Capitol Hill Housing builds vibrant and engaged communities through affordable housing and community development efforts in Seattle.
We believe in each person's right to a safe, affordable, quality home; we act with integrity in our lives and with passion for our work; we cultivate a strong team that leads through a commitment to excellence; we are responsible stewards of our properties, communities and environment; we are caring and respectful of all residents, staff, community partners, and neighbors.
Founded in 1976 as an outgrowth of community action, CHH currently owns and operates 1132 apartments at 43 properties, providing safe and affordable housing to low and moderate income individuals and families in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and across the Seattle area. While predominately serving Capitol Hill, we also serve households in eight other Seattle neighborhoods and White Center. Our efforts bridge the community's goals with the development and preservation of affordable housing.
In addition to affordable housing, CHH has been the official Community Development Corporation on Capitol Hill since its founding. Our community development work focuses on creating equitable and sustainable communities through thriving commercial districts, walkable neighborhoods, and building preservation in the central Seattle "crescent" from the Central Area along 12th Avenue to Capitol Hill. CHH is leading community stakeholders in building a vision for development for generations to come, prioritizing outstanding architecture, pedestrian-oriented amenities, affordable housing, affordable commercial space, and room for arts and culture.
Our vision is of a diverse community that includes secure, comfortable and affordable housing for individuals and families across a broad range of incomes to support social and economic diversity. We're proud to develop buildings in a community context and provide affordable homes that strengthen the neighborhoods we live in.
