Purpose & Values

Founded in 1976 as an outgrowth of community action, CHH currently owns and manages 49 buildings, providing safe and affordable housing to low- and moderate-income individuals and families in Capitol Hill and nine other Seattle area neighborhoods. Capitol Hill Housing has functioned as the Community Development Corporation on Capitol Hill since its founding. We are committed to creating equitable and sustainable communities in central Seattle. In addition to housing, our community work focuses on sustainability, equity, culture and other efforts to strengthen our neighborhoods.

We believe each and every person has the right to a quality, affordable home.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

We commit to anti-racist practices to address the inequities that maintain barriers to affordable homes.

We approach work, partnerships, and community relationships with transparency and humility. We commit to honest engagement.

We develop and sustain communities that are environmentally responsible, culturally rich, and socially just.

We work in partnership because we know that, together, we can foster better communities.
