Founded in 1976 as an outgrowth of community action, CHH currently owns and operates 1132 apartments at 43 properties, providing safe and affordable housing to low and moderate income individuals and families in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and across the Seattle area. While predominately serving the Capitol Hill neighborhood, we also have properties in other Seattle neighborhoods including the Denny Regrade, Ballard, Central Area, Southeast Seattle, Cascade, Northeast Seattle, West Seattle and White Center. Our efforts bridge the community's goals with the development and preservation of affordable housing.
In addition to affordable housing, CHH has been the official Community Development Organization on Capitol Hill since its founding. Our current community development work focuses historic preservation, walkable neighborhoods and thriving commercial districts in the central Seattle "crescent" from the Central Area along 12th Avenue to Capitol Hill. CHH is leading community stakeholders in building a vision for development for the next 100 years, prioritizing outstanding architecture, pedestrian-oriented amenities, affordable housing, affordable commercial space, and room for arts and culture.
Our vision is of a diverse community that includes secure, comfortable and affordable housing for individuals and families across a broad range of incomes to support social and economic diversity.
